Tackling Everyday Obstacles

The Worst Case Scenario traveling exhibition is based on the popular worst-case scenario survival handbook series by David Borgenicht and Joshua Piven. The fun and colorful imagery from the book and brand is a core part of the new exhibition and its visual appeal. Superhero themed graphics, produce a positive effect on visitors as they overcome challenges and become their own superheroes capable of tackling whatever obstacles arise in their everyday lives. Some of the exhibition’s most memorable features include a 76,000-ball pit, a horizontal climbing wall, a train car jump, and lock-picking stations. The exhibition space recreates both real-life challenges that have most likely crossed your mind, such as how to survive a fall safely, and scenarios that may seem less probable, like surviving an avalanche. For this project, kubik maltbie’s scope of work included the construction of train car platforms that can move, which visitors use to hop between simulated train car platforms and jump and roll to safety. kubik maltbie also built the exhibit that teaches visitors how to get away from different types of animals, which included an animal roulette spinning wheel. Visitors spin the wheel to uncover what to do when faced with an angry mountain lion or a herd of approaching elephants. These interactive contributions to the exhibition teach life-saving skills to visitors as they conquer challenges with laughter and confidence.
