Learning in Play

In 2019 the Louisiana Children’s Museum moved to their new location in City Park. The new exhibits encourage open-ended inquiry, allowing parents, teachers, and other care-givers to listen carefully and provide support and resources to develop curiosity. Following Schematic Design, kubik maltbie joined the team as exhibit fabricator and installer.

Ahead of the Game!

kubik maltbie was responsible for exhibit development, prototyping, fabrication of the museum’s new children’s exhibits, and installation including: interactive exhibits, buyout elements, AV exhibits, water exhibits, graphics production, and gallery lighting.

Working in collaboration with the designer, museum staff, and other key stakeholders, kubik maltbie developed prototypes for all interactive exhibits and tested them with an audience representing the museum’s target demographic prior to fabricating and installing all exhibits and graphics.

The project required extensive collaboration with the other stakeholders on the project, especially with the exhibit design team, Gyroscope, Inc. who oversaw all of the team’s production and installation activities and provided the required approvals in conjunction with the museum owner. kubik maltbie was effective in accelerating the installation of the exhibits so the museum could open the doors to the public several weeks early.
