Job Summary:
The Interactive development team at kubik maltbie is a grass roots team that develops and fabricates mechanical/ electronic interactive exhibits for experiential environments. Many of these exhibits include motion, electronically activated components and various methods of operation. This position would be a key role in the construction of exhibits from initial prototypes to completed exhibits, and provides support for the installation of exhibitions in the museum environments when applicable.
Individuals should have a broad range of interactive development/construction capabilities with high level skills in prototyping, model making, autocad or a similar modeling or cad program. The position requires both collaborative work within project teams, supporting shop staff as well as independent work with minimum supervision.

Relevant Education/Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in exhibit mechanical interactive fabrication including cabinet making apprenticeship, prototyping, model making and machining ideal. AA/AS degree, Bachelors in Industrial Design a plus but not required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Job requirements:
- Should be familiar with basic computer skills, word, excel, etc. Familiarity with CAD a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work from and produce assembly sketches and drawings.
- Ability to work closely and collaboratively with variety of staff across the organization.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage one’s time.
- Strong organizational skills – detail oriented a must.
- Expertise and knowledge of wood and metal forming tools and machinery.
- Ability to write clear and cohesive descriptions of how an interactive exhibit might work.
- High quality oriented, willing to “go the extra mile” to get a quality product.
- Must be familiar with, and interested in, basic materials and methods, how things are built. Construction, prototyping, model making, machining, metalworking, metal fabrication and finish carpentry. Familiar with basic mechanical components.
- Ability to quickly mock up something to test/prove a concept and direct shop employees with mock ups and prototypes.
